Plumber Michael Buchanan died on Monday after suffering a fatal brain tumour, his wife revealed yesterday.
Mr Buchanan, a 50-year-old father of four from Kilmainham, Dublin, had been undergoing chemotherapy for a brain tumours in his brain and chest.
Mr Byrne, the father of two and a partner of nine years, was admitted to hospital on January 7 for a scan.
Mr Munro said Mr Buchanan’s wife had been told her husband had been “over-weight and unwell”.
The family of Mr Buchanan were in the UK when he died, he said.
“I’m not sure if the doctors told her he was obese.
“He didn’t want her to think it was a result of her obesity.” “

Mr Buchanan had been a fixture in the Dublin plumbing community for more than 25 years.
He had been with Plumber Group since 1992, and the couple have five children together.

“Mike was a very generous, kind man,” Ms Munros said.
The couple said Mr Munros was “sad” and had told the family he was going to take his own life.
“There’s a lot of people that love him, but he was a great guy,” she said.

The statement also said Mr Byrne had been on the road with his wife Rachel for about six months and would miss her.
It said: “Michael is an incredibly caring, funny, generous and generous person.
He will be greatly missed.”
The couple had been married for 17 years and had a son together.
