A home owner is hoping a quick fix can prevent a sewage leak in their basement.
Wendy Sorenson, the owner of a home in the 6800 block of East Washington Street in St. Louis, Missouri, posted a video on Facebook Monday morning of her son digging up a leaky drain pipe.
The homeowner says it was just last week that her son went out to work on her property and found a pipe that had been left out in the rain for a few days.
The homeowner says her son noticed the pipe was leaking and decided to get it fixed.
The drain was blocked by a plastic sheet and it was leaking.
“The leak was not a problem, but it wasn’t a sewer,” said Sorenons son, Aaron Sorensson.
He says his father has since gotten in touch with the city to fix the leak and was informed of a potential sewage leak.
The Sorennsons say they’ve had their drain covered and that they are working with the St. Charles County Department of Public Works to make sure the pipes aren’t compromised.
“I have a water main that’s been out there for years.
And it’s not working.
It’s just been leaking out, it’s just not being fixed,” Sorenon said.
